I do have a question ... when someone hacks into your or really any site and I log on while the hack is occurring is there any concern they can link to my computer? I don't know the first thing about hacking and I get concerned when stuff like that happened (this was my first time that I know of being online with a known hack attack). I have been doing everything i can think of to change that by submitting the site to the search engines, new designs and layouts including the new homepage and have adjusted the forums over time and ofcourse expanded the arcade. Well nothing seems to be working.

I need some ideas on how to jumpstart this place. I dont care what it is ( well almost ) as long as you think it will help to get more people here and posting. Think we should have regional forums then say it. Think we need more seasonal forums ( tropical/winter wx/ severe wx ) then again say so. Want more features again say so. Dont like the way the place is moderated/ran say so. Want a chatroom say so. It doesnt matter what it is. If you think it will help then say so.

Next. I updated the Afresh Flame theme and this is our tropical lovers theme.

All I had to do is reset Mozilla (clear things out) ... everything is working great.

1. As mentioned in other threads the Quick Reply now uses AJAX which means that when you hit submit it will instantly load your reply without a page refresh.

That ajax stuff has been as well added to the forum marking system. The little icons on the left side of the forums listing is where you click to mark the forum as read.
It has as well been added to the log in.
Also Quick edit uses the same ajax as well. Remember as well that you can edit your thread titles from the forum display as well. To do so go to your thread and click and hold over top of the title. It will turn into a box that allows you to edit it. Once you type in the new info you want click again and it is edited.

You as well now have the ability to block users posts that you dont wish to see. This is done thru User CP. Once there look on the left down to " Miscellaneous " and then you will see the " Buddy/Ignore List ". You can as well add/have a buddy list which this is where you would go as well to add your buddies.
Do note that you will block BOTH Posts and PM's from the users you wish to block.

Next is the thread view options. If you like the OLD look prior to the upgrade you can go to User CP----->Edit Options and once on that page look on the right for " Thread View Options ". The first option is "Display posts in classic mode " . This is where you can switch back to the old look by putting a check in the box.

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT. I wish they had not done this with the upgrade but anyways. While your in the Edit Options page. IF your getting emails about threads and dont want the email then look for " Messaging and Notification " and then look for Default Thread subscription Mode. It is there that you can shut it of and stop the emails. I noticed mine was turned on after the upgrade and why i mention this incase it happend to anyone else.

Let me know what you all think about the thread rating thing. You can rate threads from the main forum by clicking on the stars on the thread you wanna vote for OR you can do the same inside the thread at the top of it.

A *Couple* of things i have turned off at the moment that is probably noticable. One if the thread descriptions. This should be back on either tonight or in the next day or so. The other is the thing which shows who is viewing a thread inside the thread. Again give it a day or so.
The same applies for the YouTube stuff.
The Arcade may be down for a bit longer. This all depends on how long it takes to get the bugs out of the new Arcade system. I have applied to be a beta tester to help find the bugs.

I will add our links back to the top of the forum once the arcade is done up and installed.

Our themes we had that will be making a comeback is the Wx themes. As mentioned before i am working on a couple of new ones as well. Look for them in the coming days and weeks. Still a ton of updating to do to our ones we had.
The afresh midnight will be set as our universal theme for guests etc for now. AGAIN if you wanna switch them there is a new option to do so at the bottom Right side of the board.

In the next day or so i will go over how our New Warning system will work.

2. A newer and improved User CP and as well the ability now to ignore posts by people you dont care for. That is done via the newer buddy list system. This as well will block all PM's from those who you dont care for EXCEPT from staff.
3. A newer look in forum display and when your browsing a thread. IF you prefer the old look ( current here ) you can switch to classic post view via User CP/Options.
4. A newer editor has been added. By that i mean the part where you add links, different fonts etc to your posts.
5. For the staff a Mod CP. This will give all mods the ability to ban trouble and as well do forum tasks alot easier.
6. A Forum warning system has been added. If your not sure of what this is see Stormvista and or Eastern and look under your warn log. Basically same sort of system has been added here. At a later date i'll announce how this will exactly work.

Anyways to give it a test run yourself feel free to visit our test site.

Eventually i may get rid of the Vision and neonbloo themes. Nobody is using either one. Basically just taking up space on the server. Oh and i will probably do up a fall and a new winter theme.

A few things have been added.
1. Reputation system. Users can give eachother reputation and leave comments to eachother.

2. New Links added.
The Weather Links is a dropdown menu with links to the NHC, SPC and to get your local forecast.
Models is a few links to view the models. In the near future *just in time for the Hurricane season * a model map link / section will be added. As well a tropical wx center here on uswxforums!
At some point in the near future a onsite model section will be added. I'll have a complete update on this at a later time.
Other links will be getting added as well.

Do NOTE that the *new* links are NOT added to the Lagniappe and neonblooDarkTheme themes YET. ALL the rest of the themes now have them.

To change the theme to your liking do the following

1. User CP/My Controls
2. Options
3. Edit options and then look for Board style which is located on the bottom right.
4. Select which theme you like.

The themes with a light background
Gloss 1.2 ** BEST VIEWED WITH IE:
Mybb Default
Lagniappe

Themes which are light but not as light as the others
Wx *
Vision
Weather **
Storm**

Themes with a dark background
Wx2 **
neonblooDarkTheme ...... Best viewed with Firefox!
