I enjoyed how active it was in May/June and July however others like Roy/Esther were not as fortunate with the storms. Thus probably do not share in my view which is understandable.

Yet again precip records once again fell. Wettest July on Record was the big one. And despite August being so dry here ( only 0.71 ) the summer still finished well above normal with 16.47" inches.. Normal for all three months is 10.53" inches! Thus +5.94" for precip! BTW that .71 ended up making #4 for the least rainfall for the month of August! August is typically the 2nd wettest month of the year ( right behind Sept 3.87 ) averaging 3.68!

Per the euro Earl pays Cape Cod/sne a visit and then Fiona comes and gives S.FL one heck of a beating before heading to the Gulf..

Either way it looks like we might have two systems to deal with along our coast. The GFS on the other hand keeps both off the coast.

Oh and Earl i see is now a Hurricane! This puppy may be a Major by tomorrow morning!

Personally i have a hard time believing both are a total miss. It is rare to see a system track like Earl is doing and totally miss the whole coast unless it is later in the fall. Then there is the ridge which i think the GFS is trying to break down too quickly. I personally think Earl may be a big threat to the coast from atleast North Carolina on north. And i would not rule out further south as well down into SC..]]>

A LARGE UPPER-LEVEL ANTICYCLONE IS FORECAST TO BE NEAR THE
DEPRESSION...WHICH SHOULD CAUSE ONLY WEAK TO MODERATE NORTHEASTERLY
SHEAR FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. COMBINED WITH WARM SSTS...AT LEAST
STEADY STRENGTHENING IS EXPECTED UNTIL THE END OF THE FORECAST

Well the lack of t-storms has only grown worse here. In fact it has become laughable. Heck all you have to do is watch yesterdays radar ... line of storm moves due east until it gets near this area and shifts SE to give AA almost 2" of rain. Storms then redevelop to the northeast and give part of Lapeer and Northern Macomb 2"+ ... finally storms to the NW move slowly and dump 2"+ but die as they get as close as Flint. In the end once again for MBY ... WHAT IS A T-STORM?

If you are not understanding ... MBY has seen MAYBE and I mean MAYBE 5 t-storms ALL SUMMER of which 3 of them were decent. And every single time I there is a storm within range of chasing it is a day that there is NO WAY I can even chase a storm (though most have been to far to chase). I know many of you have had awesome to even EPIC amount of t-storms this year. Many of you have had 10 times the amount of storms. Yeah I bet there are places that have seen 50+ t-storms this storm season! And all I can get is 5 ... it is completely laughable now. Heck many places have been breaking precip records over the past several years. Not even close IMBY.

This summer has lead me conclude that am done. Though I still have a passion for weather I am doing to do all I can to get ride of that passion. On all my computers I deleted all my links several weeks ago and just happened to find this one still had a few left ... it will not keep these for long.

In short, I asked for a sign from God. I got a clear answer. It would be a complete waste my time hoping for something exciting (let alone EPIC). I now know all that I have ever desired will continue to surround me and EPIC is nothing but a lost cause for me. Tracking the weather will only lead to one disappoint for me. Why God created me with this massive weather desire yet put me in one of the worlds most Torturously Boring weather spot possible is beyond me and I do plan to ask him one day about that.

Oh don't get me wrong I know I will get an occasion event but I no longer believe I can or will get an awesome pattern. The funny thing is all I really want is to have a t-storm pattern like what has happened over WI/IL/IN/OH to occur IMBY ... but now I know that just is not going to happen ... if I move ... it will just happen somewhere else!!

Regardless ... I did enjoy this weather forum. You guys & gals are great. I have a ways to go but I do plan to get ride of all my knowledge and passion for the weather. No reason to keep it ... why as I only would have disappointment ahead of me!

I was just going to add this to my previous threads ... I see it has been deleted ... which if fine as I am sure I am just a forums leaders nightmare ... you can delete this one too ... please just allow a people a chance to read it as I want to say good-bye to all!! Locations to the north might see just a little bit more snow than to the south, but could easily see that flipped too. Out west with how warm the lakes are running this year, the Lake Effect snow machine will be amazing this year, I could even see my number for GRR/BTL being low but right now going to go with this initially, maybe revise in October. Overall looking for an above average year for Michigan. Chicago would follow suit with the Michigan maybe a touch lower on the snowfall. KLAF I really had a hard time thinking about this one, they might be in an area that could be the transition zone from above normal to below normal, if things end up a bit colder for the midwest their snow totals could be more than what I am calling for.]]>

You can pick a month of any year starting whenever your earliest flakes are till the latest flakes on record. Thus Jan99 Feb 2010, etc etc etc..

Here is mine..
Oct 2006, Nov 2000, Dec 2000, Jan 78, Feb 2010, March 1899, April 1982, May 1923!

Note not all of them are the snowiest either. However the seasonal total would be in the 215-220" range i do believe. I used a combo of both snow and cold and ofcourse wanted to throw in a blizzard. Reason i went with Jan 78 vs 67 was Jan 78 was colder and thus no snowcover lost.

Here is the monthly break down..
Oct 2006..6.5" Early epic LES event which dumped 6-10. Total was around 6-7" here.

Nov 2000..21.5" Most of that fell with a event on the 20/21st that dropped well over a foot.

Dec 2000..54" Big Dec storm that dropped over a foot and decent LES as well helping to make DEC 2000 the snowiest month of any.

Jan 78.. 37".. Ofcourse all knows about the blizz of 78. And it was cold as well.

Feb 2010..38.6" All remembers this well. Thus not much needs to be said.

March 1899.. 32-40"??? This had a big event in early March that dumped around a foot and a half and then another biggie at the halfway point and then finished with a 6+ event on the 30/31st.. Couple of smaller events as well. Wild March for sure..

April 1982.. 17.1".. Record Cold and snowy..

May 1923.. 8" Featured the huge May 1923 snowstorm that dropped around a foot from near here ( just to the east ) on up to Lansing and parts of the thumb..

That btw would be followed by a repeat of Jun 2010, July 2008, Aug 1975..

BTW.. I did not know that August 1975 was as wet as it was? Looks like i may need to eventually go through all the precip records and make some corrections. August 1975 had a total of 10.91" precip.. That means it has the #2 spot for wettest month of any. Thus July 2010 is #3 for all time wettest month. Unsure of why that was not listed either? Ugh i hate this place with the damn crappy record keeping.

Question is what changes are needed to make this a better place for all and keep people active here?

It can be anything right on down to me.

Here is the thing.. The discussion from last week with me and another member got me thinking that perhaps my thinking of a loosely moderated board is perhaps too loose or needs adjusting? Evidently a few have left/stopped posting as a result of me. Believe it or not that hurts and what hurts more is nobody says Hey Harry we need to discuss this or that to help make things better here. WHY is that so hard for people here to do? If everyone here wants things clamped down or changed then i will do it but you have to speak up. I am not a mind reader. And nor do i appreciate a post telling me basically almost after the fact that you or someone else has left over something i did or said. Why not say hey Harry this or that is not cool BEFORE it reaches that point?


Either way i wanna hear back from everyone. Even if you are not registered. Please register and give me your feedback. I will be sending out PMs and maybe even emails to all past and present members here so all can have a say. If you all don't want me giving feedback to your reply then i wont and no i wont hold anything against anyone for anything they say. I am not like that. Just keep it reasonable.
